Deputy critically injured while helping stranded motorist shows improvement

ST. TAMMANY PARISH, LA (WVUE) - The St. Tammany Parish Sheriff's Office says a deputy critically injured while trying to help a motorist showed some improvement Monday.

They say Deputy Nori Williams has a very long recovery ahead of her.

Williams, who works in the crime lab, was off-duty when she stopped to help at a multi-vehicle crash on I-59 in Mississippi.

A passing vehicle hit Williams and injured a fireman from the Hattiesburg area.

The sheriff's office says Williams' family is grateful for the outpouring of support since the weekend accident.
