NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) -

Winter is roaring into Southeast Louisiana and South Mississippi. The cold snap will last the rest of the week. In addition, a series of disturbances will bring a cold rain Wednesday and Thursday. The rain will end on Friday morning. It's possible that some of the rain may mix with snow and sleet on the North Shore and across South Mississippi. No major accumulations or travel problems are seen at this time.

Temperatures will remain in the 40s Wednesday through Friday. Sunshine returns for the weekend and highs will reach the upper 50s. It will turn even warmer on Monday before another strong cold front arrives on Tuesday bringing another chill down.
