LACOMBE, LA (WVUE) - Two days after being hospitalized from injuries sustained in a fight with his son, a Lacombe-area man died and his son was booked with murder.
According to police, deputies were called to the 59000 block of Pineridge Road in Lacombe at 9:30 p.m. Saturday, following a 911 call with no response from the caller.
Responding deputies arrived on scene and found an 57-year-old man unconscious, inside the house. A family member told police that the man got into a physical fight with his son, who was not on scene when deputies arrived.
The son, identified as 27-year-old Casey Melerine, returned to the scene and was taken into custody. He was originally booked with second degree aggravated battery. The father was brought to a South Shore hospital where he passed away on Monday.
Detectives learned of the father's passing and upgraded the charge to second degree murder.
