(WVUE) -

A short week, a ton of injuries, a ton of penalties, and a very un-Brees-like play at the end of the contest, all equaled a 20-17 loss for the Saints in Atlanta.

The Saints lost key contributors in the contest due to injury. Do-everything running back Alvin Kamara took a helmet-to-helmet hit from former LSU Tiger Deion Jones. Kamara went into concussion protocol after the hit.

Two other Saints exited the game with concussions, offensive lineman Senio Kelemete and safety Kenny Vaccaro.

On the defensive side of the ball A.J. Klein exited the game with an injured groin, and defensive lineman Trey Hendrickson also was taken off the field with an ankle injury.

The Saints racked up 11 penalties for 87 yards, including a Sean Payton outburst drawing a flag at the end of the game. The penalty came right after a Brees pick to end the contest.

All these factors contributed to a bizarre game in Atlanta.

"It's just one of those games. I've never seen anything like it. I've never been a part of a game like that. Frustrating, but our guys will bounce back," said Payton.
