Houma man charged with attempted murder in Chicago

HOUMA, LA (WVUE) -

A Houma man has been charged with attempted murder after an incident in Chicago. 

On Thursday around 2 p.m., Houma Police received information of a fugitive wanted for attempted murder being in the Houma area.

Houma Police learned that Christopher Gills, 39,was wanted in connection to a shooting that occurred in Joliet, Illinois. 

A 35-year-old female was shot multiple times during a home invasion, according to the report.  

Houma Police along with the Will County Sheriff’s Office from Illinois collaborated information in an effort to capture Gills. 

Around 3 p.m., Houma Police secured a search warrant for a residence on Naquin Street where Gills was residing. Upon executing the warrant, Houma Police located and arrested Gills.

Gills is in the custody of the Terrebonne Parish Criminal Justice Complex awaiting extradition to Joliet, Illinois.
