South Shore now included in Winter Weather Advisory

NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - A Winter Storm Warning is in effect for northern Tangipahoa Parish and Washington Parish through 4 PM. Reports of 3" or more snow accumulation have come from these areas.

A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect through 4 PM for all other areas north of the Lake, the entire south shore, and the River and Bayou Parishes. Flurries and some accumulation have occurred already in these areas and more is expected through the early afternoon. Snowflakes and sleet pellets are expected.

As the wintry precipitation comes to an end later this afternoon, clouds will linger and temperatures will remain in the 30s all day long. In many spots, it feels like the 20s due to wind chill.

We will dry out and cool down dramatically this evening. Multiple days of freezing morning temperatures are expected north and west of the Lake Saturday-Monday mornings.

A hard freeze is likely on Saturday morning for north of the lake. This will make for icy driving conditions Saturday morning. South of the lake, temperatures may approach freezing in the metro area. Then, most everything will melt as sun comes out and warms us into the 50s during the afternoon.
