NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) - A fire destroyed a New Orleans East home Friday.

Around 5:59 a.m. New Orleans Fire Department firefighters were dispatched to a home on 6951 Barrington Drive.

When the first truck arrived, they found a two-story brick frame home with fire and smoke coming from the first and second floor.

Firefighters attempted an aggressive interior attack, but the fire progressed too rapidly. A second alarm was called to keep it from spreading to neighboring homes.

Fifteen fire companies and 35 personnel and Entergy New Orleans helped mitigate the incident.

There were no reported injuries and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
