Woman tries to bite, kick officers while being arrested for string of burglaries, home invasion

NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) -

The New Orleans Police Department has charged a woman in connection with a string of burglaries and one home invasion in the Seventh District. 

On Friday around midnight Seventh District officers responded to multiple burglaries in progress in the 4600 block of Chrysler Street and 4600 block of Corinne Streets.

When officers arrived they found and arrested Shemika Davis, 42, inside of a residence.

Officers said Davis after attempted to bite and kick at the officers, but they were able to apprehend her.

NOPD's investigation revealed that Davis broke into one residence and attacked the homeowner when confronted.

She is also accused of attempting to break into a second residence by breaking out a window, and was ultimately taken into custody inside of a third residence, according to NOPD.

As a precaution, Davis was transported to the hospital for a possible drug overdose.

When released from the hospital, Davis will be charged with attempted simple burglary of an inhabited dwelling, home invasion, theft, and resisting an officer with violence, according to the report.
