(WVUE) -

For the first time in franchise history, two Pelicans teammates had triple-doubles in the same season. And yet, it still wasn't enough to get a win over the NBA's best team, record wise.

Rajon Rondo had a monster night with 13 pts., 12 rebs., 12 asts. against the Rockets. DeMarcus Cousins, who had the teams other triple-double this season, certainly did his part with Anthony Davis out with a groin injury. Cousins poured in twenty-four, grabbed 14-rebounds and missed a triple double by just two assists. Jrue Holiday led the Pels with 37 while teammate E'Twaun Moore had a career high thirty-six. But, it still wasn't enough,

On the other side of the court, Houston picked up it's NBA leading 21st win of the season thanks to unheralded players like Clint Capela, had a career-high 28 points and James Harden, scored 12 straight points for Houston in the fourth quarter as the Rockets rallied for a 130-123 victory to extend their winning streak to 10 games on Monday night.

The loss pulls the Pelicans back to even in the record column at 14-14. They'll be back home Wednesday night to face Milwaukee

The Pelicans picked up Alvin Gentry's option to return for the 2018-19 season, and we shouldn't be surprised if there's an extension in the works as well.
