LAFOURCHE PARISH, LA (WVUE) - Louisiana State Police are investigating a crash that claimed the life of a motorcyclist. The crash occurred at 7:30 a.m. Tuesday on Highway 24 near the community of Grand Bois.
According to police, 35-year-old Christopher Trahan of Houma was traveling south on Hwy 24 on a motorcycle. As he began to pass a vehicle on a right curve marked a no passing zone, he lost control of his bike and ran off of the left side of the road. He was ejected from the motorcycle and suffered critical injuries as a result. Trahan was flown to University Medical Center in New Orleans where he would later be pronounced dead.
Investigators do not believe that alcohol or drug use played a role in the crash, but standard toxicology tests are pending. At the time of the crash, Trahan was wearing a DOT approved helmet.
