KENNER, LA (WVUE) -

The Kenner Police Department is investigating a fatal crash that occurred at Veterans Boulevard and Loyola Drive.

At about 7:32 p.m., the Kenner Police Department began receiving telephone calls reporting a crash involving two vehicles. First responders arrived to discover that a 2003 Chevrolet Avalanche and a 2005 Chevrolet 10,000 pickup had collided in the intersection.

According to witnesses, the Avalanche was traveling eastbound on Veterans Boulevard, when it ran a red light and collided with the pickup, which was traveling south onto Aberdeen Drive from Loyola Drive. The driver of the Avalanche, a male from Denham Springs, was taken to University Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The male driver and occupant in pickup received minor injuries. Both refused medical treatment on scene.

The victim’s name will not be released until family members are notified.

Kenner Police Chief Michael J. Glaser encourages anyone who witnessed this crash to contact Kenner Police Traffic Investigator Sergeant Jon Cryer or Officer Michael Vega at (504) 712-2336.
