Man found shot to death inside Treme apartment

NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) - The New Orleans Police Department is investigating a fatal shooting in Treme Saturday morning.

Police say the shooting happened just before 8 a.m. in the 1900 block of St. Ann Street.

According to police, an off-duty officer was flagged down by a citizen about a man bleeding inside of an apartment. When the off-duty officer and the First District Officers entered the apartment, they found a male suffering from gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene by EMS.

Investigators are working to determine a suspect and a motive in the shooting.

The name of the victim is being withheld pending an autopsy. The Orleans Parish Coroner's Office will release the victim's name and the official cause of death after the completion of the autopsy and notification of the victim's family.
