NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) -

FOX 8 was the only news outlet there when a multi-jurisdictional task force showed up to a Public Housing Development on Earhart. They were looking for 30-year-old Delaumie Stevenson. FOX 8 got exclusive video of the NOPD officers arresting Stevenson around 2 p.m. Tuesday.

Stevenson is accused of taking delivered packages from several homes including one on North Parkwood Court and one on Deerfield Drive in New Orleans East. The thefts were captured on surveillance video.

"I just wonder what type of person would do something like that around the holidays," victim Cedric Floyd said.

Floyd's package was taken off his front porch the same day his neighbor a block away captured video of Stevenson allegedly taking packages from another home.

"It must have occurred within ten to 15 minutes after it was dropped off at the most. She had to be following the truck or something," Floyd said. "It's normally extremely quiet so I was shocked to see it happen. But it's Christmas time. It happens."

The videos had been shared on Facebook by the victims and one victim said the packages contained her children’s Christmas gifts. Stevenson’s vehicle was described as a light grey sedan, possibly a Lexus, seen in the video.

Just outside the apartment where police arrested Stevenson they discovered a light grey Lexus. The sedan was full of packages that could be seen through the back window. NOPD officers searched the vehicle and pulled out one package after another, including mail receipts.

Some of the packages contained prescription drugs that police believe Stevenson stole from someone’s front porch. Detectives also brought multiple items from Stevenson’s apartment, including a Hoverboard and large boxes.

Stevenson, with her face covered, had nothing to say as detectives walked her out in handcuffs.
