NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) -

The search is on for a 33-year old man who police say attacked a man because he believed the victim had his cigarette lighter.  The NOPD is looking for  Joshua Beach, wanted for his involvement in an aggravated battery incident that happened in the 1100 block of Margaret Place.

The victim told police at about 5 p.m.on Thursday he was sitting in the park just near the intersection of where the Pontchartrain Expressway meets Camp Street when he was approached by Beach.  The victim says Beach accused him of being in possession of his lighter. According to the report, the victim told him he didn't have his lighter and the suspect walked away.

Police say Beach then returned to the park with a brick wrapped in cloth and struck the victim over the head, fracturing his skull. He reportedly fled the location heading southbound on Calliope Street toward Magazine Street. The suspect is described as a thin-build male with red hair, a red beard and wearing broken glasses.

Anyone with information on the suspect’s whereabouts should call Sixth District detectives at 504-658-6060. Citizens with information that can help solve crimes are asked to call Crimestoppers at 504-822-1111 or toll-free at 1-877-903-STOP
