Terrebonne Parish residents urged to conserve power

TERREBONNE PARISH, LA (WVUE) - The Terrebonne Parish Consolidated Government has just been notified by the Louisiana Energy and Power Authority (LEPA) that the regional area is experiencing a major power shortage due to the increase in power usage because of the the winter weather conditions.

According to the report,Terrebonne Parish Utilities and LEPA are requesting residents to conserve electrical power to prevent rolling blackouts in the area.

The best way to conserve energy is to lower your heating thermostat two or more degrees in your home or business, according to the report.

Other ways to conserve energy is to turn off any unnecessary appliances and unplug any unnecessary electrical devices.

According to LEPA, conservation of electricity may be required for the next couple of days due to the extreme low temperatures we will experience in our area.
