(WVUE) - The New Orleans Pelicans dropped to 23-21 Wednesday night while the Golden State Warriors are 37-9 and the defending champions, yet both own two of the 10 starting positions in the NBA's 2018 All-Star Game.
Anthony Davis was expected to earn a spot but DeMarcus Cousins' inclusion is a bit of a surprise considering their team's 6th place seeding in the Western Conference.
Davis won 2017 All-Star Game MVP in New Orleans while Cousins was limited to less than three minutes of playing time as his trade from the Sacramento Kings was simultaneously being finalized.
The 2018 event will be in Los Angeles, California and feature a "schoolyard" format where Team Captains, LeBron James and Stephen Curry, will alternate picks to form their team. This means that Davis and Cousins could square off on opposing teams.
