NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) -

Officials with the Sewerage and Water Board of New Orleans are urging residents in New Orleans to limit their water use.

In a message from NOLA Ready Alerts, the S&WB says they are still working to restore the water pressure.

To limit water use, residents are being asked to refrain from washing dishes, running the dishwasher, doing laundry or washing cars. They are also asking residents to inspect their property, repair broken pipes and report any leaks in their neighborhood.

S&WB also released tips if you discover a leak on your property.

If you discover a leak on your property, turn off your water and immediately contact a licensed plumber to schedule a repair. You can shut off your water by following these steps:

Locate your main water valve: Your main water valve may be found along an exterior wall of your home.

Turn the valve handle clockwise: This will immediately stop the flow of water into your home. Use a wrench if it is difficult to turn by hand.

You can report leaks in your neighborhood by calling 52-WATER or emailing customerservice@swbno.org.
