NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - The Captain of Endymion has announced that musician Jon Batiste has been named Grand Marshal of the 2018 Krewe of Endymion Parade. Batiste will be joined by special guests, Marshon Lattimore and Alvin Kamara of the New Orleans Saints.
Batiste, an internationally-known musician and composer, also serves as The Late Show with Stephen Colbert's bandleader and musical director. He also attended The Julliard School where he earned a master's degree.
Kamara and Lattimore had standout rookie seasons for the Saints during 2017-18 season. Kamara won Rookie of the Week honors seven times this season, while Lattimore led all rookies with five interceptions. Both have been selected to participate in the 2018 Pro Bowl and both are nominees for Rookie of the Year.
Batiste, Lattimore and Kamara will lead the Krewe of Endymion on its Mid-City Route which begins near City Park and wraps inside the Mercedes-Benz Superdome where the Endymion Extravaganza will take place, beginning at 7 p.m. The 2018 extravaganza will feature Rod Stewart, Jason Derulo, Groovy 7 and the Wise Guys.
The theme for this year's parade is Jazz - Our Gift to the World.
