SLIDELL, LA (WVUE) -

St. Tammany Parish Sheriff's Department has arrested a Slidell man in connection to a shooting that injured an innocent bystander, according to a release issued by the department.

The victim, a 54-year-old man, was taken to an area hospital after a neighbor reported the shooting.

According to the report, around 4:30 p.m. Sunday Michael Sirelle Bickham walked outside of a home in the 1400 block of Beech Street armed with a pistol.

Bickham heard his girlfriend arguing with her children's father outside the home when an altercation ensued between the two men, according to report.

At some point during the altercation, Bickham fired the gun and the bullet struck an unintended victim, a friend of his that was standing nearby.

Bickham drove his friend to the hospital and then fled, according to the report.

He was arrested shortly after 8 p.m. after he returned to the hospital to check on his friend’s condition.

Bickham was booked into the St. Tammany Parish Jail for one count of second-degree aggravated battery and one count of aggravated assault with a firearm.
