NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) -

New Orleans Archbishop Gregory Aymond says he's leaving decisions about altering masses because of the flu epidemic up to individual parish leaders.

While the Diocese of Portland in Maine is asking all parishioners to refrain from holding hands and sharing consecrated wine during communion, there is no such request here. Other specific guidance in Maine calls for priests to place the communion hosts into worshippers' hands instead of on their tongues.

Archbishop Aymond encourages everyone to use common sense and good hygiene during the celebration of mass.
