NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) - A New Orleans restaurant is joining Blue Bell in an effort to bring the flavors of Mardi Gras to a freezer near you.

Quintins Natural on Toledano Street revealed their latest seasonal flavor in a story written by our partners NOLA.com | The-Times Picayune.

The King Cake ice cream is different from others, featuring a surprise the minute you open the lid.

"I've been making king cake ice cream for years," said store owner Quinton Livan in the article. "Every king cake season, I'm always playing around and trying to figure out how to make the ice cream."

The King Cake baby is made of royal icing and sprayed with natural flavoring made of beets.

According to the article, the baby gets a little softer as it sits in the ice cream over time, but some cartons will have the baby at the bottom.
