THIBODAUX, LA (WVUE) - Thibodaux police have arrested a man who they say strangled his girlfriend when she was trying to leave for work.
According to the report, officers were dispatched to the home of Javis Javon Caldwell after they received a tip that he was holding his girlfriend at gunpoint against her will.
When officers arrived, they found Caldwell int he parking lot. As they were talking, the victim and a child exited the home.
According to the report, at first the victim acted like nothing happened, but once she was separated from Caldwell she broke down.
Police said she told them that Caldwell refused to let her leave for work, strangling her in the process.
The victim had injuries, but refused medical attention, according to the report.
According to the report, officers, who had been to the home the day before, found the home in disarray – broken tables and a flipped couch that was not like that the day before. The victim said that Caldwell did not pull a gun on her, and after searching the home Officers found a gun case with no gun.
Caldwell was placed under arrest and transported to the Lafourche Parish Detention Center where he is being held on a $4,500 bond.
