NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) -

So far, not so good for the Pelicans in the post-Boogie Cousins era. The Pelicans led by as many as 21 points in the contest, but the Clippers dominated the second half, and took a 112-103 victory.

Cousins will undergo surgery to repair a ruptured left Achilles tendon, and will miss the remainder of the season.

The Pelicans  (27-22) raced out to an 8-0 lead to start the contest, the Clippers (25-24) took back the lead in the third quarter, and never looked back. The Clippers outscored the Pels by 14 in the third quarter.

"What we got to do is figure out why we continue to have these slow starts in the third quarter. Part of is we got good shots again, they didn't go in. It's added pressure, because they come down and score a couple of baskets. We just got to find a way to get the ball in the basket, but continue with the intensity level that we start the game with," said Pelicans Head Coach Alvin Gentry.

Anthony Davis led the Pels with 25 points. Blake Griffin paced the Clippers with 27 points.

St. Paul's is the gold standard for soccer in our state. They've won four state titles in a row, and anything less than a fifth appears unacceptable in Covington. "It's very intimidating, very stressful. Because there's so much pressure on every game," said senior captain Mason Robichaux. "The history we have at this school.
