NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) - A new video shows off-road vehicles spotted illegally driving on the roads of New Orleans.
The video, shared by our partners NOLA.com | The Times-Picayune, shows more than a dozen ATVS and dirt bikes performing stunts on the interstate.
The motorists were popping wheelies near the Tulane-Carrolton Exit without wearing any protective gear.
Driving off-road vehicles in the city is illegal, and they do not comply with the specific safety requirements needed to drive on highways and interstates, according to the report.
Just last summer, the driver of an ATV was killed in New Orleans East.
Last June, a car on Chef Menteur was turning left onto Majestic Oaks Drive when it was hit by a four-wheeler and two dirt bikes.
Officers said the ATV and dirt bikes did not have their lights on.
The crash killed the driver of the ATV and sent one dirt bike rider to the hospital in critical condition.
