More than 70 violations of prostitution, lewd acts and illegal drugs have been uncovered by a human trafficking operation in the French Quarter, state and local law enforcement said Monday.

Eight clubs have been hit with liquor license suspensions over the past 10 days, including Rick's Cabaret, Larry Flynt's Hustler Barely Legal, Stilettos, Rick's Sporting Saloon, Dixie Divas, Temptations, Scores and a male strip club called Hunk Oasis.

New Orleans Police Department Superintendent Michael Harrison said the investigation has been ongoing for months. It is the result of French Quarter businesses and citizens who wanted to see the crime cleaned up.

State and local law enforcement said they do not have any issues with dancers or clubs that are avoiding criminal activity.

Clubs that have been suspended will have a chance to challenge at hearings on Thursday and Feb. 6.
