According to a news release issued by the City of Kenner, the band Mojeaux takes the stage at 400 Williams Boulevard beginning at 11 a.m. and continues until the party ends at 3 p.m. The second-line parade, from the end of Williams Boulevard near the Mississippi River, begins about 11:45 a.m.

This is a wonderful tradition for our city, and a great way to really get into the Carnival spirit,” Kenner Mayor Ben Zahn said. “Lundi Gras is also a fantastic way to show off Rivertown. I encourage everyone to stop by and enjoy a tremendous free party.”

In addition to the concert, there will be vendors selling food and crafts and a toast from Zahn and Police Chief Mike Glaser, along with the Kenner City Council, to the royalty of both organizations, according to the release.

The 2018 King and Queen of Argus are Michael J. Maenza, King Argus XXXIV, and Alexis C. Hartline, Queen Argus XXXIV. Zulu royalty are King Brent D. Washington, Sr. and his queen, Troye M. Washington.

District 1 Councilman Gregory Carroll is encouraging the public to come out and experience Lundi Gras in Kenner’s historic Rivertown, which is filled with free parking and other amenities.

“Like many other activities that take place in Rivertown, Lundi Gras is a New Orleans tradition designed with fun in mind for the entire family,” Carroll said.

Zahn said city office buildings in Kenner will be closed both Monday and Tuesday, reopening at 8:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Feb 14. Garbage pickup in the city will not be affected by the holiday.
