NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) - New Orleans law enforcement said in a news conference Tuesday that whether it is Carnival or not, officers are on the lookout for people who illegally dump in the area.
NOPD Chief Michael Harrison along with 7th District Commander Lawrence Dupree said over the weekend two arrests were made in connection to illegal dumping cases in New Orleans East.
Those arrested were Leonard Patterson and Bryant Ballard. Both were charged will illegal dumping, and they were also in possession of a stolen u-haul, according to Harrison.
The NOPD and the DEQ are working aggressively in this ongoing operation to put an end to illegal dumping in this neighborhood and to all neighborhoods in the city, but especially to East New Orleans where we've heard the complaints," Harrison said.
Harrison said they are looking into cameras to catch some of the illegal dumping activity.
