ATC settles with another French Quarter strip club

NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - The Louisiana Office of Alcohol and Tobacco Control has reached a settlement with another French Quarter dance club, Hunk Oasis.

Hunk Oasis agreed to a 30 day suspension and a $3,500 fine. The club has already been closed 19 days, so they will remain closed for another 11 days.

The ATC was scheduled to hold a meeting with the owner Tuesday over violations found during a recent raid.

The city's planning commission is scheduled to discuss limiting the number of strip clubs to one per block in the French Quarter, but it will not be doing it by shutting down any clubs.

The goal is to reduce the concentration of clubs.

So if a club shuts down for some reason, another could not open in its place if there was already one on that block.

Supporters of adult entertainers said this would negatively impact the workers.

The hearing for the final suspended club, Hustler's Barely Legal, is scheduled for Feb. 9.

The clubs have agreed to beef up security and in some cases put in third-party observers.

Dixie Divas and Temptations have surrendered their licenses however and will not be reopening.
