Jefferson Parish weighs parade options with wet weekend a possibility

JEFFERSON PARISH, LA (WVUE) - At this time, Jefferson Parish officials have not made any changes to parade routes and schedules, nor have they locked krewes down to a specific day.

Councilwoman At-Large Jennifer Van Vranken said individual krewe leaders and captains are being asked to find viable options should changes be necessary.

"We've asked them to look at contracts on the float providers, on your tractor drivers and at least give what alternative you might have available," Van Vranken said. "Tomorrow morning, we'll have a meeting with EMS, with the (Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office), with other agencies that help with Mardi Gras to know what are the availability of resources in different time slots on different days."

Van Vranken said it is the krewe captain's decision whether or not to roll.

If the weather is too severe, Jefferson Parish parades rolling on Friday, Saturday and Sunday could shift to Thursday or Monday (Lundi Gras) because there are no parades scheduled on those days.
