Palette of color paints Mardi Gras ball tuxedos

METAIRIE, LA (WVUE) - The fancy Mardi Gras balls across town used to require riders and guest wear traditional black tuxedos, but in the past few years, some balls are letting their hair down, so to speak.

Endymion started letting men wear colorful tuxedos two years ago, and not to be outdone, Orpheus stepped up and relaxed its dress code.

Mel Grodsky, at Tuxedo's To Geaux in Metairie, said this year even Zulu is allowing its men to wear some novelty tuxes, though they still must be black.
