NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - Roofing experts are at the Smoothie King Center Thursday assessing a roof leak which caused the cancellation of the New Orleans Pelicans game Wednesday night.
A source says the roof problem may have been related to a major freeze two weeks ago which may have compromised the roof.
The Pelicans game against the Indiana Pacers was canceled before tipoff after the leak made playing conditions unsafe.
Team officials are hopeful that at least an emergency repair can be made in time for the next Pelicans home game against the Lakers the day after Mardi Gras.
The Pelicans said they will honor tickets for the game on the rescheduled date. Parking will also be free of charge on the date of the make-up game.
"Additionally, the Pelicans will offer an exchange or refund for any individual ticket holders who purchased tickets from the New Orleans Pelicans. If you purchased tickets from a third-party ticket distributor, please contact their office to request information on refunds or exchanges," the team said in a statement.
