NOPD probes possible connection between man shot, boy found injured in Lower 9th Ward

NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) - The NOPD is investigating the circumstances surrounding two people.

NOPD found a man shot and an injured 3-year-old boy just blocks apart Thursday in the Lower Ninth Ward.

Both victims arrived at area hospitals in private cars.

The adult male was treated for a gunshot wound to the arm in an incident that reportedly occurred near the intersection of St. Claude Avenue and Lizardi Street.

Orginally NOPD reported that the juvenile arrived at a separate hospital with a gunshot wound to the hand in an incident that reportedly occurred near the intersection of Deslonde Street and St. Claude Avenue. Friday NOPD updated their report to say the child was not shot, and that the incident is being investigated as a cruelty to a juvenile case.

Police did not say what time the shootings happened.

An investigation is ongoing as to any possible connection between these victims.
