NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) - King of Carnival 2018 is Lynes "Poco" Sloss, President and CEO of Bellwether Technology Corporation.
Sloss built his own computer back in 1978 and proudly calls himself a technology nerd. He founded Bellwether in 1980.
He's thrilled to be Rex 2018 during the Tricentennial. He says Mardi Gras is a day everyone is in harmony.
"You riding along on a float and someone says, 'You want a chicken leg? I've barbecued on the grill.' That guy wouldn't have done that any other day," says Sloss. "People put aside problems and enjoy the day. Love the city."
Sloss may be one of the only kings of Carnival to also be a private pilot. He has flown more than 900 hours on his Beechcraft Bonanza and says flying relaxes him.
He's active on the board of the Audubon Nature Institute, the Louisiana Children's Museum, the Bureau of Governmental Research and a board member at Miller McCoy Charter School, just to name a few.
Rex is set to roll at 10 a.m. Tuesday, February 13.
