Krewe of Argus rolls through Metairie

METAIRIE, LA (WVUE) - Parade-goers in Metairie were excited to find some relief from the rain on Mardi Gras, as a large crowd gathered to enjoy the parades in the sun.

Alexis Hartline is a senior in high school and rode as the Queen of Argus.

"I'm kind of nervous, but I'm really excited. I can't wait just to be riding with my dad and my brother and just have so much fun today," Hartline said.

This is not her first rodeo.

"I've been involved in Argus ever since I was seven, five-ish, and I was a princess. So I've been riding every year since then," Hartline said.

Others travelled from Nashville for their first Mardi Gras.

"It is the best. It is so great. It's all of our first times and it's just different down here. Parades in Nashville, you don't get all this. It's just really fun," Elizabeth said.

It turned out even better than they expected.

"It's kind of like Fourth of July. i wasn't expecting it to be so big. everyone's camping out and having a blast." Tenna said.

For the queen, Argus is a perfect ending to Mardi Gras.

"I've never not been here on Mardi Gras day, and I wouldn't trade that for the world," Hartline said.

The Argus Krewe was family friendly, fun and ended with no debauchery.
