NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) -

New Orleans restaurants and chefs have a shot at taking home 14 awards people compare to the oscars of the culinary world.

Semifinalists for this year's James Beard Foundation awards were selected from 23,000 online entries. Previous winners and James Beard Foundation committee members narrowed down those entries to a list of semifinalists revealed February 15.

Up for Outstanding Chef this year is Herbsaint's Donald Link. He's been nominated for this award multiple times. Up for Outstanding Pastry Chef is Willa Jean's Kelly Field. Upperline's JoAnn Clevenger makes the semifinalist list for Outstanding Restaurateur. Saffron is in the running to win the Best New Restaurant award.
