Man opens fire in RTA bus, strikes driver

NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) - The New Orleans Police Department is investigating a shooting that happened on an RTA bus Thursday night in the Lower Ninth Ward.

The shooting happened in the 1500 block of Flood Street, according to the report.

The suspect, Dimitris Polk, boarded the bus and opened fire, striking the bus driver.

According to the report, Polk made the driver take him to another location before exiting the bus and fleeing.

NOPD said Polk was arrested at a neighbors residence.

He was charged with aggravated assault, aggravated battery, criminal damage to property, illegal abuse of a weapon, and possession of a firearm by a felon.
