Mardi Gras parade route murder suspect in police custody

NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) -

New Orleans police have the suspect in a fatal parade route shooting in custody.

Eddie Dingle, 21, was booked into Orleans Parish Prison shortly after 1 p.m. on Friday. He is charged with second-degree murder.

The shooting happened around 3:45 on Tuesday in the 2400 block of St. Charles Ave. Officer found the victim suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

EMS arrived on the scene quickly and transported the victim to a local hospital.

During the course of the investigation, detectives learned that the victim was reportedly involved in a verbal altercation with another unknown male subject, who allegedly produced a gun and opened fire.

The victim in this incident later died while at the hospital.

Bond has not been set for Dingle.
