NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) - The New Orleans Police Department is investigating a shooting that left one man dead early Sunday morning.
Police say the shooting happened just after 2 a.m. in the 700 block of North Broad Street.
According to police, they were called to the scene for a fight involving a large group of people. During the fight, shots were fired.
When officers arrived at the scene, they found one male suffering from a gunshot wound to the upper part of his body. The victim was later pronounced dead by EMS.
Investigators are working to collect evidence and determine a suspect and motive in the shooting.
The name of the victim has not been released. The Orleans Parish Coroner's Office will release the victim's name and an official cause of death following the completion of an autopsy and notification of the victim's family.
