NOPD identifies suspect in Warehouse District shooting

NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) -

New Orleans police have identified a suspect who they say is responsible for a shooting in the Warehouse District. The shooting took place, Saturday around 3:20 p.m. near the intersection of Magazine and St. Joseph Streets. The suspect has been identified as 28-year-old Richard Thomas. 

According to police the victim was driving in the 800 block of Magazine when he pulled over and got out of the vehicle. The passenger in the car said that he heard two gunshots and saw two men running away. He then got out of the vehicle and walked around to the other side where he found the driver shot multiple times. The passenger then drove the victim to a hospital. 

Investigators were able to identify Thomas as the gunman in the case and obtained an arrest warrant for aggravated battery by shooting and felon in possession of a firearm after discovering that Thomas was a convicted felon.
