METAIRIE, LA (WVUE) -

Jefferson Parish deputies arrested a 13-year-old boy for terrorizing in reference to an alleged threat of a shooting at Truman Middle School that was distributed through social media.

Sheriff Joseph Lopinto said this is the 5th arrest this week related to a threat of a school shooting.

Thursday night, the juvenile posted an image to his Instagram account that read “ima shoot up truman tm at 12:00 be there.”

The post was brought to the attention of the JPSO school resource officer at Truman at approximately 8 a.m. Friday.

The juvenile was identified almost immediately and arrested at a different area school that he now attends.

The juvenile was interviewed and a search conducted at his home, and nothing to indicate that a school shooting was being planned was located.  The suspect stated that he was only making a joke.

Lopinto said the post caused a number of parents to pick their children up from school and forced a sense of panic into the school population.
