NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - Louisiana State Police are investigating a crash in St. Helena Parish that claimed the life of a teen. The accident occurred Saturday at 7:28 a.m. on Highway 43, near Lee & Busby Road. The crash claimed the life of 19-year-old Justin Blaine Milton, Jr. of Greensburg.
According to police, Milton was driving a pickup truck south on Hwy 43, when for reasons still under investigation, the truck drove off of the left side of the road. The vehicle for 316 feet in the ditch before hitting a culvert and concrete driveway. Milton, who was not wearing his seat belt at the time of the crash, suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead on the scene by the St. Helena Parish Coroner's Office.
Investigators do not believe that Milton was impaired at the time of the crash. Troopers obtained blood samples, as part of the investigation. The samples will be analyzed at the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab.
Police say that Saturday's crash was the second fatal crash in four days in St. Helena Parish, where the victim was a teenage driver who was not wearing their seat belt.
