(WVUE) - Not even a big three-run homer by Cody Ducote was enough to get UNO over the hump against No. 15 Southern Miss.

The Golden Eagles took advantage of three Privateer errors en route to a 9-7 win Tuesday evening at Maestri Field.

Darren Willis led the Privateer charge at the plate, going 4-5 with a triple, two runs batted in and three runs scored. Jacob McFadden added two hits of his own and an RBI. Ducote blasted his third home run of the season.

But, those efforts at the plate couldn't overcome the 'Teers struggles on the mound. Privateer starter John Michael Stephens was tagged with the loss to fall to 0-1 on the year after giving up seven hits and six runs – four earned – in 6.0 innings of work.

UNO will host Arkansas State this weekend.
