Southeastern tops Nicholls to claim top seed in Southland Conference Tournament

HAMMOND, LA (WVUE) - In Saturday's regular season finale, Southeastern picked up its eighth-consecutive win, dropping Nicholls State 69-57 in the regular season finale for both squads. The win gives Southeastern a share of the Southland Conference Regular Season Title with Nicholls and gives the Lions the No. 1 seed in next week's Southland Conference Tournament.

Moses Greenwood led the Lions (21-10, 15-3) with 18 points and eight rebounds. Marlain Veal poured in 14 points and eight assists and Eddy Polanco recorded a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds.

The Colonels (21-10, 15-3) were led by Lafayette Rutledge and Roddy Peters who each scored 12 points.

The Southland Conference Tournament, which takes place in Katy, Texas begins Wednesday Mar. 7.
