ST. TAMMANY PARISH, LA (WVUE) - St. Tammany Parish Sheriff's Deputies have arrested an 11-year-old Abita Middle School student after he made threats toward another student.

According to police, the 11-year-old male student sent texts to an 11-year-old female student over the weekend saying that he was going to come to school with a knife and kill her. The female student notified a teacher and the sheriff's department was called.

Deputies arrested the male student and charged him with terrorizing. He was booked into the Florida Parishes Detention Center.

Investigators conducted a search and found that the male student did not have a knife in his possession.

"We have made it very clear that threats like this will be taken very seriously," Sheriff Randy Smith said. "We will continue to work with our schools to investigate any and all threats on our schools and the students who attend them and enforcement action will be taken when warranted. Parents I urge you, again, to please speak with your children about the seriousness of making comments like these."
