ST. TAMMANY PARISH, LA (WVUE) - The St. Tammany Sheriff's Office assisted in a vehicle pursuit Tuesday evening.

Shortly before 7 p.m. on Tuesday St. Tammany Parish Sheriff's deputies were alerted to a pursuit taking place southbound on I-59 involving Pearl River County Sheriff's Office, Picayune Police Department, and a stolen vehicle.

STPSO deputies responded and joined the pursuit near the West Pearl River Bridge.

The driver of the stolen vehicle, a blue Nissan Altima, reached speeds in excess of 100 miles per hour as it traveled through St. Tammany Parish and into Orleans Parish, before making a U-turn and reentering St. Tammany Parish.

While attempting to evade deputies, the stolen vehicle struck an STPSO unit at one point, causing minor functional damage.

The pursuit ended when the vehicle ran out of gas and came to rest on the shoulder of I-10, after crossing back into Mississippi.

The driver, Kacy Nix, was taken in custody by Pearl River County Sheriff's Office shortly before 7:30 p.m.

In addition to the charges she is facing in other jurisdictions, St. Tammany Parish Sherriff's issued warrants for Nix for the following traffic violations:

  • Reckless Operation of a Motor Vehicle
  • Aggravated Flight from an Officer
  • Hit and Run

Pearl River County, Picayune Police Department, Louisiana State Police, Slidell Police Department and Hancock County Sheriff's Office were all involved in the pursuit.

No traffic incidents, other than the damage to the STPSO unit, were reported as a result of the pursuit.
