ST. TAMMANY PARISH, LA (WVUE) - St. Tammany Parish Sheriff's deputies, with the assistance of other local agencies, arrested an Amite man Monday afternoon, following a vehicle pursuit that started in the Bush area and led authorities into Washington Parish.

The owner of a 2011 Dodge Ram 3500 called STPSO Monday morning to report he had left his truck in the parking lot of a Slidell mechanic's shop overnight, and when employees arrived Monday morning, the truck was missing.

Later that day, a St. Tammany Parish sheriff's deputy observed the stolen truck near the intersection of Highway 21 and Highway 41 in Bush and attempted to initiate a traffic stop.

The driver of the truck, Harold Allen, 36, failed to stop, and instead continued northbound down Highway 21 into Washington Parish, according to officers.

While being pursued by STPSO deputies, Sun Police officers, Bogalusa Police officers and deputies from the Washington Parish Sheriff's Office, Allen crashed the vehicle just outside of the Bogalusa city limits.

He was booked into the Washington Parish Jail as a fugitive out of St. Tammany Parish and on charges related to the chase.

Once transported to St. Tammany, Allen will be booked into the St. Tammany Parish Jail on warrants for the following charges:

  • LRS 14:69 Illegal Possession of Stolen Things
  • LRS 14:96 Obstructing Highways of Commerce
  • LRS 14:99 Reckless Operation of a Vehicle
  • LRS 14:108.1 Flight from an Officer
