Body of former school board employee found in New Orleans East

NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) -

The body of a woman who has been missing since October 2017 was found by New Orleans police in New Orleans East, according to investigators.

Jean Stokes, 76, disappeared by Michoud Blvd. near Chef Menteur Hwy.

Her car was discovered near a levee shortly after she disappeared. New Orleans police said her death has now been ruled a homicide.

Louisiana State Police Crime Laboratory conducted DNA analysis comparison of Stokes DNA profile, to that of remains discovered in the Seventh District.

The analysis confirmed a match of Ms. Jean Stokes DNA profile to the DNA profile of the discovered remains.

Stokes was a long time employee of the Orleans Parish School Board and the mother of five children.  She was also a grandmother and great-grandmother.
