NOPD connects St. Roch homicide to shooting spree

NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) -

The New Orleans Police Department is investigating a homicide in St. Roch. 

The shooting happened in the 2400 Elysian Fields Avenue. 

According to the NOPD's report, the victim was identified as Lil' Ricky Goins, 38. 

Police have connected the shooting to a crime spree that ended in Mid-City, according to Nola.com | The Times-Picayune.

Charles Williams, 25, is accused of shooting three people in the 1900 block of St. Roch Ave. and a man in the 1400 block of N. Derbigny St.

Williams is also suspected of shooting at an officer on St. Roch Ave. One of the officers suffered a graze wound. The officer is in good condition. He is also connected to a carjacking.

Williams was caught after a police chase that ended in a crash.

His initial bond was set at $750,000 for an attempted second-degree murder charge. Prosecutors expect the bond to change once he is formally charged
