Report: Metairie caretaker stole jewelry, checks from patient's home

METAIRIE, LA (WVUE) - The Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office arrested a Metairie caretaker who was accused of stealing jewelry and forging checks belonging to the daughter of her patient, according to a report by our partners NOLA.com | The Times-Picayune. 

Gina West, 47, was charged with 39 counts of theft, 17 counts of forgery and 17 counts of bank fraud on Thursday, according to the report.

The report said that West worked as a caretaker for an elderly woman who lived at the River Ridge home of her 63-year-old daughter. Police said between January and November 2017, she was accused of stealing personal checks belonging to the daughter.

West did not start cashing the checks until November, police said in the report.

West is also accused of stealing jewelry from the home, according to authorities.
