The New Orleans Police Department is investigating a homicide in St. Roch Tuesday morning.
NOPD officers responded to a call of an aggravated battery by shooting around 3:01 a.m. in the 1500 block of Franklin Avenue.
When officers they found a man lying on the floor suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest.
The victim died at the scene, according to NOPD.
Investigators are currently in the process of gathering evidence and information to identify the person responsible for this incident, as well as a motive.
